Minecraft Abandoned Camp Guide
Scope: Minecraft Abandoned Camps in the Java 26.3 test cycle and Bedrock Preview/Beta 26.60.21.
Find and inspect Minecraft Abandoned Camps in current Drop 3 test builds, with the latest Bedrock Preview 26.60.21 Swamp-generation corrections.
Answer first
Quick Answer
Abandoned Camps remain experimental Drop 3 structures. Search supported Overworld biomes in a Java 26.3 snapshot or Bedrock Preview/Beta test world, then inspect the tents, camp utilities, and containers. In Bedrock Preview 26.60.21, Swamp camps no longer generate Mycelium or isolated Coarse Dirt blocks.

Current availability
Abandoned Camps are part of the Minecraft Drop 3 2026 test cycle. Use a Java 26.3 snapshot or the applicable Bedrock Preview/Beta build. A stable installation that has not received the drop will not generate the structure.
Test in a backed-up or disposable world. Structure generation can change between snapshots, so a seed tested in an older build may not reproduce the same camp footprint after an update.
How to recognize an Abandoned Camp
Look for a small surface campsite rather than a large dungeon entrance. The test structure uses campsite elements such as tents, a campfire, utility blocks, and storage containers. Its materials and details vary with the surrounding biome, so the outline is more reliable than one exact block color.
When you find a possible camp:
- Circle the entire structure before opening anything.
- Check behind and between the tents for containers or utility blocks hidden by the terrain.
- Record the biome and build number if you are comparing variants.
- Keep loot observations separate from generation observations; both can change independently during testing.
Bedrock Preview 26.60.21 Swamp change
The September 2 Bedrock notes make two specific corrections:
- Abandoned Camps in the Swamp no longer contain Mycelium.
- Camps no longer contain single isolated Coarse Dirt blocks.
These are generation fixes, not a removal of the Swamp camp. An older screenshot with those blocks can be accurate for its build while being wrong for Preview 26.60.21.
Finding a camp in an existing test world
Travel into terrain that the current test build has not generated before. Previously explored chunks preserve the structures created when those chunks first loaded; updating the client does not rebuild every old chunk around your base.
If the search is taking too long:
- confirm the experimental/test version on the title screen;
- move beyond the area already explored in that world;
- compare the current biome with Abandoned Camp Locations;
- start a fresh test world to separate a version problem from old chunk generation.
What remains unconfirmed
This guide does not publish a guaranteed camp spacing, fixed coordinate pattern, or final loot probability. Third-party guides currently disagree on some container contents and rates, while Mojang continues to ship generation fixes. Use the latest official notes for stable claims and treat exact test-build loot as provisional.
FAQ
Are Abandoned Camps in stable Minecraft?
The checked sources describe them in Java snapshot and Bedrock Preview/Beta testing. Confirm a stable release announcement before searching an ordinary stable world.
Do Abandoned Camps only appear in the Dappled Forest?
No. Current test coverage includes multiple supported Overworld biome variants. The Dappled Forest has its own variant but is not the only search area.
Why can I not find a camp after updating?
You may be searching chunks generated before the test feature was active. Check the build number and explore new terrain or create a fresh test world.
Should a Swamp camp contain Mycelium?
Not in Bedrock Preview 26.60.21. Mojang removed Mycelium from that variant and also removed isolated Coarse Dirt blocks from camps.
