Valheim 1.0 Achievements: Why They May Not Unlock

Start with when the action happened

An old save can continue in 1.0, but achievement statistics begin tracking with the new version. Iron Gate gives Eikthyr as an example: a kill before 1.0 does not count retroactively. Defeat him again on an eligible character and world if that is the achievement you are checking.

This makes save compatibility and achievement progress separate questions. Keeping a world does not mean all of its past actions will be awarded as achievements.

Identify the eligibility state

The permanent and temporary cases must not be combined. Throwing away a marked item can restore eligibility for an otherwise clean character in a temporary state. It does not undo a permanent character or world flag.

Characters that used cheats before 1.0 can also be marked. The game adds a confirmation before entering a cheated state after the update, but that confirmation does not erase earlier history.

If an eligible action still does not register

First confirm the installed game version, whether the action was repeated after updating, and the character/world state. Then record the achievement name, platform, world modifiers, and whether the result can be reproduced on an eligible save.

A September 9 player discussion reports missing progress even after creating a new character and world. That report establishes a current troubleshooting question, but it does not establish a universal fix. Do not treat deleting saves, installing an unlocker, or changing a launch option as a verified solution.
